I’ve found on my own PC that it’s not how many expansion and stuff packs I have, but how large and how cluttered my lots are. If I build a large lot with tons of cc objects in it, then my graphics go a bit slow and choppy as my card is not a particularly powerful one.

If this happens with yours, perhaps you could think about upgrading your graphics card, or building/playing smaller lots. 🙂

You can also go to your sims 2 folder and delete the group and accessory cache files. They will be newly replaced when you play the game. This helps if the game won’t start or is slow and also helps speed up the process. Also, if you have a lot of custom content, try to narrow it down some. The game has to load each thing before it can actually get to your game and this makes the game slow and the graphics not so wonderful. I have a really good machine and card but I still have to do all of this. To delete the cache files go here: C:UsersYour NameDocumentsEA Games/Sims2. Do not go into the computer part of the gaming files for this. At the very bottom, after you have opened the sims 2 folder, you will see 2 files that look like pieces of paper. One will say Groups.cache and the other will say Accessory.cache. You can safely delete them both. When you start your game they will be replaced by the game. Also, try running disk defrag on your system at least once a month. If you have ran body shop, you can also safely delete the cache file in the same folder for that. Do not delete any other files. Hope this helps. 🙂
