You can change the type of lot you are building in the Sims 2 by using cheats. This is really handy if you want to build apartments, for example. To use the cheat, bring up the cheat console by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-C

Then type:

• changeLotZoning dorm
• changeLotZoning greek
• changeLotZoning secret society
• changeLotZoning community
• changeLotZoning residential
• changeLotZoning apartmentbase

Please make sure your lots are empty of Sims before you change the lot zoning or it may corrupt your game.
