Well, I ended up uninstalling DDS Utilities and SimPE and reinstalling. The good thing is that I think I got an updated version of SimPE which matches yours, but it won’t open my candlestick file. So I’m starting all over!! At least now I think the Nvidia tools are showing up in SimPE. We’ll see when I get there.

I went through the whole process again but when I get to build dtx it’s still grayed out. I tried to get the simpe to recognize the dds utilities:

You just need the path to the actual folder:

It worked! Thanks so very much! I’m hoping to finish this now but no telling what it will look like after my map!

Oh I’m so pleased! It really doesn’t matter what your first attempt looks like, it’s all about getting used to the process. And I have to say I’m very impressed with your patience…I’d be having a tantrum right about now! lol

Eureka! Ha Ha Ha! I finished! This is the ugliest candle in the history of simdom but a major, major triumph for me and hopefully for my awesome teacher Lady Angel!!! Thank you for your patience and wonderful tutorial!

Yay! Well done, although I had no doubt you’d triumph in the end. With a bit of practice and your oodles of patience, I’m sure we’ll be seeing your unique creations here before long. 🙂 There’s nothing so gratifying as when you see your first creation right there in your game – I’m so proud of you! lol

Just a quick word about mapping – the texture map I created for this could have been much better, as I’m still very much a beginner. Any parts of the mesh that are going to have the same texture applied can be resized and placed on top of each other. Make sure you fill as much of the texture map as possible with your mesh parts for the best results.
