Re: TSR has gone free for both Sims 2 and Sims 3
I know – it’s a hassle to clean all of the TSR cc out of the downloads, then link to them as ‘required but not included’ etc.

Yes but Angela sometimes you can’t use it at all! Some will only allow you to use it if you’re uploading at TSR. Ask Donna, she knows far more about this than I do.

Sounds like more trouble than it’s worth to me!

That’s why I only go there if I can’t find it elsewhere 🙂

I understand their site will now be funded via advertising. It’s such a popular site that it should do well in that respect. It’s something I’ve been considering myself. I already use Google Ads, but am wondering if I should offer it as an option for advertisers to pay to show their ads here?

Ads slow sites down and apparently that’s what they have done at TSR (was already slow for me). Tbh SFUK loads slowly for me. I can click on Leefish and here at the same time and Leefish loads much faster.

https://adblockplus.org/en/internet-explorer maybe this will help.

I personally find ads annoying, but if they keep content FREE, then it’s worth dealing with the ads. Karen, SFU loads and runs a bit more slowly than other sites for me, too.
I am hoping you are right, Angela…That eventually TSR changes their TOU to share-friendly throughout the community.
Otherwise, I will continue to not visit TSR nor download the creations there.October 26, 2013 at 8:18 pm #4791LadyAngelKeymasterRe: TSR has gone free for both Sims 2 and Sims 3
I hope so too, Sugah.
The reason that our site runs slowly is because we can’t afford a decent server, we really could do with upgrading it. Hence the need for advertising revenue – it’s a vicious circle!

It’s worth things running a wee bit slow here, as it’s a nice place to visit.
SP’s forum host doesn’t have near the whistles and bells your server does, but it’s free.October 28, 2013 at 7:52 pm #4799CheekyBuggaRe: TSR has gone free for both Sims 2 and Sims 3

Nope it’s still Steve and the site is slower than ever and has way more add’s and you get a count down(wait time) with each download. Steve is rather smart because not only does he get money for allowing more add’s he slows the site down even more and entices you to pay for a V.I.P membership for $2.99 to improve the speed That old saying you get what you pay for is very true, if you get my meaning 😉
