Anne, do you use UV Mapper Classic or Pro? With either you can select all the parts that are to have the same texture and move them on top of each other, they can then be resized to take up lots more of the texture image, making it more defined. The part that is going to have a different texture applied should be mapped as a box and make sure it takes up as much of the space as possible.
For example, the 4 middle sections could all be placed carefully on top of each other, then resized and textured as 1 piece. Then you could work on any parts that have a different texture.
With UV Mapper Pro, you can load an image as you are working, so you can see what it would be like as a finished object, but it’s not cheap! Example below:
