Tiff amazing again! Very clever, love the record player too (I had one one similar but I grew up in the 60s and 70s).

Tiff, that retro house is terrific! I love the Barbie-lookin’ head on the mantelpiece, the old record player (had one like that myself as a teen) and the 50s appliances.
You’ve done a fine job replicating the original abode. The vintage car was a great touch, too! Bravo!Thank you for the compliments on my retro beach bags, Tiff, Karen & Angela.
I’m glad you like them.
I just noticed the owls are upside down on the left one! Duh!
That won’t take long to fix today.
Once I’ve righted the owls, I’ll re-take the pics, package the beach bags up and share them here.I appreciate your positive feedback, ladies. 🙂

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.
The car is the stunning 55 Buick from Dr Pixel https://www.modthesims.info/d/310872 🙂May 30, 2013 at 7:14 pm #4410SugahParticipantRe: May – June Challenge, 2013
I’ve repaired the upside-down-owls retro beach bag and have retaken the snapshot, ladies.
As soon as I can, I will upload the set and offer it here! 😀May 30, 2013 at 7:25 pm #4419karen lorraineRe: May – June Challenge, 2013
Even more awesome!

It feels ages since I last completed a challenge or uploaded anything 🙁
Well about to rectify that! Here is my entry to the Retro challenge. It is house from the 1970s. I have used an actual floor plan from a 1970s house and pictures and information from the web to design the house. Since these houses are still standing and being lived in I used google street map too 🙂
This house is typical of an estate in Milton Keynes (MK), which is a new town. Building started in MK around the 1960s early 70s and the first estates that were built were Galley Hill, Netherfield, Fullers Slade and Greenleys. These estates were mainly built to provide social housing for the local council. They are still predominately social housing now, though some are now privately owned.
MK is built between three original and well-established towns, Bletchley, Stony Stratford and Wolverton. Newport Pagnell is under the Motorway bridge and so is not technically part of MK but we the council provides for NP.
I remember coming to MK when I was a little girl with my parents to ‘find’ MK. But we couldn’t ‘find’ MK, we ended up driving through a small village called Milton Keynes Village (now called Middleton). The reason we couldn’t ‘find’ MK was because it was so new there really wasn’t much of it – in the early days there wasn’t a shopping centre either.
Whilst I was researching for this house I found a rather interesting video. The link is here, it’s rather long at 15 minutes but it does provide an insight into the vision and the beginnings of MK.

25 Redbourne CourtNow onto the house 🙂 I have actually built two houses but only furnished one of them. When it becomes an upload I will keep one as 1970 and the other I plan to decorate as a modern day house.
The front of the house
To your right is the downstairs toilet, note the lovely avocado coloured suite, that was all the rage in the 1970s!
The next door along is the understairs cupboard, complete with vacuum cleaner.
Moving straight on you reach the kitchen, all in bright yellow.
I did toy with adding the 1970’s serving hatch but in this version of a 1970s house there wasn’t room.
On into the dining room, hope you like the floral wallpaper 🙂 Oh and don’t forget the ghastly ceilings tiles now deemed a fire hazard!
To the left of the dining room there is a small lean-to style conservatory, just like I had in the house when I was growing up!
To the right is the living room, which is also accessed from the hallway. Note the small CRT style TV, which might well have been black and white in those days. And also the brown sideboard to the side of the room houses the record player.
Then back into the hallway and up the stairs to the bedrooms.
Bedroom 1, no en suite, we didn’t have many of those in the 1970s.
To the front of the house there is a twin bedroom, not many toys because we didn’t have that many, lots of games though. When I was a little girl you only owned one Barbie doll, not loads like they do nowadays.
And to the rear of the house, the third bedroom
The family bathroom, this time in a lovely midnight blue, shows all the marks, I know cos I’ve still got one! Notice the lack of a shower because baths were all the rage then. Once a week! And so you can see how it all fits together, the floorplans

I hope you enjoyed my little bit of nostalgia from the 1970s 🙂June 19, 2013 at 6:54 pm #4451LadyAngelKeymasterRe: May – June Challenge, 2013
Ooh, lovely! I really like the little vacuum cleaner – I tried to make one for this challenge, but it didn’t look right so I scrapped it. 🙂 This house is definitely 70’s, and the back garden area looks great!

You were the lucky one then 🙂 Actually apart from the avocado bathroom and the tan lounge suite ours was very boringly white!
