At the end of a little stone path leading through an enchanted forest, you will find a tiny pond and inviting bench. You sit down, close your eyes, and listen. Breeze through the trees, buzzing insects, water lapping the sides of the pond, happy birds chirping . . . this is the place to be in May!

Years ago when we were raising our kids in California, Mother’s Day was usually our first trip to the beach for the year. Oh how I loved it! We took an ice chest full of sandwiches and canned drinks, we took chips and dip, and cookies. My two sons and husband rode the waves on boogie boards, and my daughter and I sunbathed and read. It was a delight in Oceanside, California!

Oh, I love the beach, it’s just about my favourite place ever. We don’t have that many warm days here, even in the summer, but the beach is only a half hour drive away, so I like to get there at least one day a year if I can. Your pic is exactly how I like it…lovely, blue sea and not too many people!
