As a result of having fun with pets pack and other packs, AGS really messed up everything. I am writing this as a warning if you have the triple or combined packs. I could not uninstall anything and it was bothering my computer in a way no one would like. I had to actually wipe my entire computer because I didn’t read everything Numenor wrote out properly. So in future, before downloading anything, please read what it goes with and doesn’t. AGS is NOT compatible with fun with pets compilation pack or any of the other ones. If you don’t want to wipe your computer be careful. 🙁
EDIT* Collection packs other than Deluxe, Double Deluxe and Holiday Ed. 2005/06 are not supported. If you install the AGS with any other collection pack, you will probably have to uninstall and reinstall all of your games to get back to a working state.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. 🙁 Yes, I’ve learned the hard way to read before I use!

I just finished reinstalling all of my games and so on. Before I wiped everything, I placed all of my CC and sims and so on, on my 3T external HDD. Good thing I got that for my birthday! We do indeed have to be very careful.

Just a note – I couldn’t get AGS to work with Double Deluxe or the University collection. Not sure why. 🙁

AGS only works if you have the disc. If you have downloaded from EA/Origin, it will not work. Numenor:
Collection packs other than Deluxe, Double Deluxe and Holiday Ed. 2005/06 are not supported. If you install the AGS with any other collection pack, you will probably have to uninstall and reinstall all of your games to get back to a working state.
IMPORTANT – COMPATIBILITY LIST
This AGS version is compatible with any game and expansion on physical CD/DVD.
It support also Store Edition, Deluxe, Double Deluxe and Holiday Ed. 2005/06.
Don’t use the AGS with expansions bought online from EA site, or other game editions not listed aboveThe installer works under Windows XP and Vista (32bit and 64bit)
and must be run under an administrator account.November 8, 2012 at 2:40 pm #3732TheDeadSimRe: AGS “Any Game Starter” Warning!
I found some issues when using AGS. After downloading I had to read through his instructions multiple times. I have all the EPs and SPs purchased and on discs. I do however have a 4 pack of eps and sps which were fun stuff, open for business, nightlife, and university. I also bought the standard sims 2 in the happy holiday pack which is how I got happy holiday stuff. I didn’t actually install holiday stuff on my current computer because I rarely used it and didn’t want it as a requirement for my downloads. After spending a lot of time configuring everything and ensuring I ran AGS games as an administrator. I found this was a very important thing to not otherwise the games would not work.

I have lots of packs via Origin and AGS works with all of them except the Deluxe and University packs.

It sure doesn’t work with mine. I have Fun With Pets and it’s a compilation and so is sims 2, it has celebration and night life. I will not ever download AGS again, not after what I have to go through to get my computer, which is brand new running correctly and then running the games correctly. I also happened to find a free program that uninstalls stubborn games. I was so thankful. It uninstalled FT for me because I had tried everything else and nothing worked. Numenor is my favorite modder and I use so much of his stuff it’s not funny, but this is one thing I could not use and won’t even try to use again. Now I am really afraid to download SimPe the second time and try and learn it. lol I hope everyone got AGS running. My configuration and compilations won’t allow it. 🙁

SimPE should never interfere with your game. In fact, you can configure it so it loads only the base game stuff when it starts up, which saves a mountain of time when SimPE loads.
As long as you follow tutorials to the letter you should be fine using SimPE, it’s one of my favourite pieces of software. 🙂

Unless I can find something written by someone I know, like on here, I don’t think I will try it again. I am software shy right now. lol 🙂

Angela I agree with you 200% I love simPE for a number of things eg: Finds the file name for easier deletion and i have never had any problems loading my game 🙂

That’s a shame. 🙁 You can find some tutorials here that use SimPE so I hope you have a go some time! 🙂

I will have to look at those! Thank you Angela! I didn’t know we had anything on it here, but I sure am glad. 🙂

Well the recolouring and meshing tutorials use it, as well as the one on how to change lot zoning in the base game.
