Just thought I would ask for some suggestions and feedback or ideas for a project I have been working on for a while. I don’t actually know much about the property etc. so if you have anything you think might be valuable information please let me know. I have posted some pics below on what I have done so far and happy to receive any feedback you have. I am aware it may cause some lag on computers simply because of the size but that’s not really what this thread is for talking about.
The floor plan is a little bit intense, yet not even half way done :/
I hope you can clearly see the three different sections and to keep it simple I have maintained the line down the middle of each three sections. I have forgotten the numbers already but I think the one on the right is 10, correct me if I’m wrong, 11 in the middle and 12 on the left. The lower half of 12 is left as a home business and the top half of 12 will be the servants quarters (I am deciding whether to have two 1 bed apartments or a 2 bedroom apartment and ideas on this would be nice). In number 11 on the lower floor will remain offices. No 10 will be the residential portion of the property extending along towards the back of the lot. I was going to keep level 2 a guest area with some bedrooms and possibly some additional communal rooms. Level 3 and 4 will be dedicated to the residing family only. I’m not sure if that will be quite enough room for the family but we’ll see how I go. So that is what I have done, I do want to keep some of the back yard somewhat empty but if you have ideas on what I can include let me know. I have already got a courtyard in the front of the property which is out of the way. I can’t think of anything else at the moment and I don’t intend to change the building structure but if you have feedback it will still be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to have a look.September 14, 2012 at 11:53 am #3417ekrubynaffitRe: 10 Downing Street
Im thinking it does look good, but theres too much trim on the windows, know you dont like cc but the von trapp windows lee made would be perfect for this!! https://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=462362 Same windows just less trim! Otherwise it seems to look a bit more busy. I really like your archway leading up the drive with the gates standing open, nifty idea!

It’s looking good 🙂 Found this website with some plans on it, they are old plans but it won’t have changed much since and I doubt we’ll find up-to-date ones because of security issues. https://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=68052
I do know that the most of no 10 is offices and official rooms and the apartment is tiny. Because Tony Blair swapped living quarters with the Gordon Brown, when they were in office. Would be good to get a british policeman standing outside no 10 🙂
I’m looking forward to seeing this progress 🙂
Edit: I see Tiff was writing at the same time 🙂 I too think the von trapp windows would be good or phoenix phaerie’s georgian set at MTS https://www.modthesims.info/d/267590. Especially the doors.

It’s looking good. I love the driveway. And well done for finding those plans, Karen! It’s progressing very well, but I do think you need different windows, too.
Please post all support requests in the forums if at all possible

I might consider doing both CC and non CC version but it becomes a real nuisance when it comes to uploading because I will need double the pictures. And Karen, I have actually looked at a couple of different plans and decided not to follow them because of the difficult task of proportions. Plans just don’t usually turn out right in Sims so I have basically ruled out the possibility of trying to replicate the plan especially with such great size. If anyone has ideas of what kinds of communal rooms I can include that would be really helpful. I believe I am going to have a bit of trouble trying to find things to fill in.

Actually, I wasn’t thinking of you following the plans, just thought it might give you some idea of the size and type of rooms that are there.
I would imagine it would have many offices, a catering style kitchen, a formal dining room, a ballroom/party style room, meeting rooms.
And then a small apartment on the top floor and maybe a smaller apartment for the body guards and staff that stayed overnight.

Oh yeah good idea Karen, hadn’t thought of that. As for the library I have a small one on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard/pool area but maybe I could do a larger one on another floor.
