This might be personal taste, but I think the legs could do with fattening up. I don’t like when furniture looks like it’s on toothpicks if you zoom out in the game. However, I do like the textures you’ve chosen. They look so elegant and work well together too. I could see this blossoming into a lovely, regal dining set.

Well I know I’m no expert Angel but I like it,you might be happier with it if you re-colour with dark shades perhaps?? All in all for your first try I think it’s good!!!

Yes, the legs are a bit pants. I do like the idea of darker colours, too. Perhaps something Medieval?

              Re: First meshing attempt!

I need to mess around with the textures a bit to get the right look, but I think this is better than my first attempt. Notice there are no shadows on this one either. I haven’t covered the shadow tutorial yet! 🙂

                  Re: First meshing attempt!

Thanks 🙂 The feedback from MTS suggests that the legs are too big. I’ll have another try and mess around with the texture a bit.

                    Re: First meshing attempt!

Well, I’ve had yet another attempt, but can’t seem to get the texture right on the table edging, it looks too stretched. I’m waiting for a response to this on MTS so hopefully I can fix it:

                      Re: First meshing attempt!

I like the shape of the legs in this last one. The table could use some rounded corners though when it moves toward the final touches, I think.

I’ve made my own table mesh now too and came to realize that adding the textures and fiddling around with SimPE to get it into the game seems like a more complicated task to me than just building the 3D model. My poor table may never see the light of a Sim day.

                      Here is my meshing attempt:

                        Re: First meshing attempt!

Is that your first mesh? It’s lovely!

The part that gets to me is the mapping, apparently that’s where I’m going wrong. Until I can get that right I’m not going to be able to offer anything for download. 🙁

                          Re: First meshing attempt!

Yes, that was my first mesh. Just copied the tutorial’s shape really.

I wasn’t happy using the UV Mapper as it had no obvious “Undo” feature and Ctrl+Z did nothing. I had made a few mis-clicks and had to start over again a couple of times.

It’s starting to come together now. I’m going to work on a better design, but I’ve re-mapped the mesh and it looks a lot better:

Thats looking good Ladya, I was going to say the legs on the other were a wee bit thick, but now they look just right!

I like it Angel would be great for Medieval decor I think 🙂 Ops I was commenting on the one with chunky legs lol

I’d say try to get rid of those horizontal lines on the front and end of the table. Other than that, it looks very nice!

Lady Angel and Tofu, I’m amazed by both of you! Meshing is my dream but I don’t think I have what it takes. SimPE is a giant mystery to me even with tutorials. What program are you using for the actual meshing? Lady Angel, I love your thick legged table for a coffee table. Your third attempt is almost there if not there I think! Tofu, I love the shape of your table, it’s a bit monochromatic. You guys are so talented and smart!
