Although a few things are sadly lacking compared to it’s predecessor, The Sims 3 is a very good addition to the series.
One of the best things is the pattern tool, which means that everything is highly configurable, from furniture, to Sims, to their clothes. You can also visit other lots without having to go into the neighbourhood screen which saves a lot of loading in time.
I don’t like the fact that I can’t create my own custom neighbourhoods, or the fact that I must go back to the town before I can save a lot I’m building…that’s very annoying, particularly when I’m building in another country (I have World Adventures, too.) I also don’t like that you don’t get a very good view of the neighbourhood and can’t zoom in. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to track down lots that I’ve played or built because the view is so far away!
The gameplay itself is excellent, and the more I play, the more I find to do. Like The Sims 2, this game is highly addictive.
The graphics will challenge older graphics cards, but if you can run it, then it looks great. I would definitely upgrade my PC so I could play this, but I still prefer 2…I don’t think anything could beat that one!
