Now, before you stamp your feet and go in a huff and refuse to consider it, at least have a go, challenges are meant to be challenging! 😉 – Using Wizards of SimPE, it’s very simple indeed! You can choose one of the following tutorials:
- Wizards of SimPE
- If the Wizards won’t load for you, you can use the main SimPE tutorial instead
- Recolouring Using a Seamless Image
If you know how to edit images using layers etc, you can experiment with shading and highlights, but that’s more advanced. The above simple tutorials will show you just how easy it is to do a basic re-colour, which is all this challenge is about. However, if you want to be clever, please go ahead! :p Karen, thank you for the link to the free version of Photoshop!
Note that this is a challenge, it isn’t a competition with prizes, and we won’t be picking an overall winner. Simply reply to this post with your pictures.
Comments regarding each entry are welcome, and feel free to use the ‘Likes’ and ‘Thanks’ buttons at the bottom of each post 🙂
Wishing you all the best!
(P.S. Don’t forget, our members can also post challenges! Just read our announcement before you post.)

Bucket-fill it with a seamless image of your choosing
Import it backSo, so simple! 🙂

I’m not running before I can walk, and am passing on this one unless I get pshop sorted out in my head.

Using Wizards is infinitely easier than using the main SimPE software. It’s how I started recolouring and I’ve never looked back! 😀

Leefish is teaching me how to use simpe so would rather do it that way 🙂 Am not ready to recolour a sofa.

Tiff, if you still want to do this, here’s a simplified version of my Wizards of SimPE tutorial:
You can use any image editor to fill the exported image, such as Gimp, Photoshop etc. Just make sure it’s filled with a seamless pattern of a not-too-big size. 🙂Kaz, how are you getting on with SimPE…is it looking less scary, yet! 😀

Simpe isn’t scary, Angela, it’s photoshop that I’m struggling with. Gonna get a colleague at work to show me some stuff today.

Yes, it’s quite hard to get to grips with, but a lot of Sims 2 tutorials use Photoshop so I may give it another go.

I’m feeling silly today, so here’s some daft recolours. Probably won’t be putting these up for download, but I’ll try and make some more sensible ones later. 🙂

Actually quite like some of those Angela. I like the stripey one and the last one. Could you make the pattern smaller on that front bit where it’s larger so that it matches the rest of the upholstery?

Actually, it’s the way the mesh has been mapped that makes the texture look stretched, I’m afraid, nothing to do with the recolouring. 🙁 I’m not even sure where on the image map that particular section would be, but I’ll have a look at it and have a bit of a mess around to see if it can be fixed.
